The first seminar session of the series on facts and pitfalls of observational studies of our SCTO Education Platform has been a success

The first online session on “Ethics approval: Insights from the ethics committees”took place on 27 March. In this session, we delved into the crucial area of ethics approval with Nienke Jones, Manager Scientific Bureau of the Ethics Committee of Northwestern and Central Switzerland (EKNZ). Researchers gained invaluable insights on how to get the mandatory ethics approval for observational studies. The session dealt with participant information and consent for different types of projects, where and how to hand in dossier, and insights about the decision processes and views of the ethics committees. 

With over 200 participants, the session was a resounding success, fostering rich discussions and learning opportunities. In particular, the interactive session was very much appreciated. The presentation of the first session is available on the SCTO Platform website.
